Since its debut less than 12 months ago, Tazizi has launched across more than 40 locations in Dubai – producing over 3,000 meals each week. Tazizi is building an alternative to conventional workplace catering – one designed around convenience, flexibility and the way employees actually work today.
Rather than relying on fixed lunch hours, large canteens or scheduled food deliveries, Tazizi gives employees access to freshly prepared food around the clock. Customers simply select an item, scan, pay and go.
The fridges are stocked with a rotating range of salads, bowls, sandwiches, breakfast dishes, snacks and drinks, with each location tailored according to purchasing behaviour and employee preferences.
“We wanted to create something that sits between a restaurant and traditional vending,” said Brian Voelzing, Co-Founder and COO of Tazizi. “People want good food at work, but they also want convenience. They may be eating breakfast at 8am, lunch at 2pm or finishing work late in the evening. The food offering needs to fit around them rather than the other way around.”
Unlike conventional vending machines built primarily around packaged snacks and drinks, Tazizi focuses on fresh food produced specifically for its network. The company also uses sales and stocking data to understand what performs at individual locations. Menus can then be adjusted according to demand, allowing two offices with different employee profiles to have very different product mixes.
“An office shouldn’t necessarily have the same food selection as the building next door,” Voelzing added. “We can see what people are actually choosing and continuously improve the offering.”
For employers, the model provides an alternative to operating a traditional canteen or café, particularly in workplaces where employee numbers, working patterns or space limitations make conventional food service difficult.
Tazizi believes workplace food will increasingly move towards smaller, technology-enabled formats that can provide fresh food without the infrastructure and fixed operating hours associated with a restaurant.
As the company continues to expand its footprint, its ambition is to make high-quality workplace food as accessible as walking to the office coffee machine.
