Brazil’s Interlagos circuit hosts round four of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship, with three Ferrari 499Ps on the grid. Four weeks after the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Prancing Horse cars return to action at the historic South American circuit, which hosts an FIA WEC round for the third consecutive year. The event is the halfway mark of an eight-round season. The 6 Hours of São Paulo kicks off on Sunday 12 July at 11.30 a.m. local time.
The race. Ferrari heads to Brazil aiming to secure valuable World Championship points in a race that has proved particularly challenging for the 499P in previous editions.
Reigning FIA WEC Drivers’ World Champions Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi arrive in São Paulo after their fifth-place finish at Le Mans in the number 51 car. Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen, who share the sister number 50 Ferrari – AF Corse 499P, return to action after retiring at Le Mans. The number 83 AF Corse entry completes Ferrari’s three-car line-up. The car finished seventh at the recent 24 Hours of Le Mans with Ferrari official drivers Yifei Ye and Phil Hanson alongside Robert Kubica.
The circuit
Since 1985, the circuit, named after José Carlos Pace, has been an integral part of international motorsport history. It opened in 1940 and is the shortest on the FIA WEC calendar, measuring just 4.309 kilometres in its current configuration. Run in an anti-clockwise direction, it features 15 corners: ten left-handers and five right-handers. Its frequent elevation changes and short straights also make Interlagos a medium-to-low-speed circuit. After hosting the FIA WEC between 2012 and 2014, the São Paulo circuit welcomes the championship for the third consecutive year in the Hypercar era. In 2024, the 499Ps’ best result was fifth place for Pier Guidi, Calado and Giovinazzi. In 2025, Ye, Hanson and Kubica took eighth.
The situation. Ferrari sits third in the Manufacturers’ standings with 62 points, 70 points behind the championship leaders. In the Drivers’ standings, Pier Guidi, Calado and Giovinazzi are fifth with 39 points, 36 behind the leaders. Fuoco, Molina and Nielsen are ninth, while Ye, Hanson and Kubica are eleventh with 23 and 21 points, respectively.
The programme. Friday 10 July features two 90-minute free practice sessions, starting at 11 a.m. and 3.50 p.m. On Saturday 11 July, a third free practice session will run from 10.10 a.m. to 11.10 a.m., followed by Qualifying (3.10 p.m.) and Hyperpole (3.30 p.m.), which will determine the starting grid for the 6 Hours of São Paulo, with the green flag on Sunday 12 July at 11.30 a.m. local time.
