On the occasion of International Families Day, H.E. Salama Al Ameemi, Director General of the Family Care Authority, affirmed that the family remains the cornerstone of social stability, sustainable development and long-term economic resilience in the UAE, particularly in Abu Dhabi.
H.E. Salama Al Ameemi, Director General of the Family Care Authority, said: “In the UAE, and particularly in Abu Dhabi, the family continues to be viewed as the foundation of social stability, human development and long-term economic resilience. As societies evolve, strengthening the social fabric requires building integrated systems that help people navigate emotional, social and economic changes with confidence and stability. Across Abu Dhabi, there is growing emphasis on creating an ecosystem that supports people at every stage of life, through initiatives focused on parental empowerment, counselling, child wellbeing, financial resilience, mental health, work-life balance and social inclusion.”
Emphasizing on the growing importance of investing in family wellbeing, H.E said: “Today, conversations around development are no longer limited to infrastructure or economic growth alone. The strength of a society is also reflected in the strength of its relationships, the wellbeing of its people and the sense of stability individuals experience within their homes and communities.
Investing in wellbeing has a direct impact on social cohesion, productivity and long-term community resilience. It contributes to better educational outcomes, improved mental wellbeing and stronger participation across society, while also preserving the values of compassion, responsibility and mutual support that continue to define the UAE community.
At the Family Care Authority, our role is centred on advancing integrated and preventative social care services that place people at the heart of development. Through unified case management, counselling services, guidance and empowerment programmes, as well as an integrated service catalogue designed to simplify access to care across Abu Dhabi, we work closely with partners across the social sector to ensure support is delivered in a coordinated and dignified manner. The focus is not only on addressing challenges, but also on strengthening resilience, encouraging healthier relationships and enabling individuals to contribute actively to society.”
Looking ahead, she added, “the focus will continue to be on developing more proactive, data-driven and community-centred approaches that respond to emerging social needs while empowering families to thrive independently. Building resilient families is a shared responsibility across institutions, workplaces and communities, and it remains one of the most important investments any society can make for its future.”
