Chevrolet has revived one of its most storied performance badges <a href="https://menainsights.com/a-business-lunch-in-dubai-mall-with-front-row-burj-khalifa-views/”>with the return of the Grand Sport for the 2027 model year, introducing two new variants to the Chevrolet Corvette C8 lineup. Positioned between the Stingray and the track-focused Z06, the new Grand Sport models aim to balance everyday usability with high-performance engineering.

A strategic return to the Corvette lineup
The Grand Sport nameplate reenters the fold with two distinct configurations: a rear-wheel-drive model and the all-wheel-drive Grand Sport X. Both variants adopt wider bodywork, upgraded suspension systems, and larger braking hardware derived from the Z06 and ZR1, signaling a clear emphasis on track-ready capability without sacrificing versatility.
A new naturally aspirated V8
At the center of both models is a newly developed 6.7-liter LS6 V-8 engine, replacing the outgoing LT2. The naturally aspirated small-block introduces a suite of performance upgrades, including a tunnel ram intake, forged internals, and a high 13:1 compression ratio.
The result is 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque—making it the most torque-rich naturally aspirated V-8 in Corvette history. Power is delivered through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, maintaining the precision and responsiveness expected from the C8 platform.
Grand Sport X pushes hybrid performance further
The Grand Sport X serves as a successor to the E-Ray, integrating electrification into the performance equation. By pairing the LS6 engine with a front-axle electric motor and battery system derived from the ZR1X, the GSX achieves a combined output of 721 horsepower.
In addition to its hybrid powertrain, the GSX features standard carbon-ceramic brakes and dedicated track modes, positioning it as a high-performance, all-weather option within the range.
Pricing and positioning
While full pricing details have yet to be announced, the rear-wheel-drive Grand Sport is expected to start below $100,000 USD, making it a compelling middle ground between the entry-level Stingray and the more extreme Z06.
