The Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media (ADTCM) concluded the inaugural ‘Masfout X’ Race held in the Masfout region. The mountain duathlon, organised as part of the UAE’s 54th National Day celebrations, attracted 203 participants from across the country.
Held in line with international standards, the sporting event combined mountain running and mountain biking along specially designed natural trails that challenged the endurance and performance of both seasoned and amateur athletes. Government officials and representatives from supporting organisations attended the event, alongside volunteer teams who played a key role in ensuring the smooth execution of the race.
His Excellency Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director-General of ADTCM, said: “The impressive turnout and enthusiastic engagement in the first edition of ‘Masfout X’ Race reflect the rising appeal of activities that blend sport, adventure, and the natural environment. ADTCM is dedicated to supporting initiatives that strengthen Ajman’s position as a premier sports tourism destination. This commitment is fully aligned with the wise leadership’s vision to develop the sector by leveraging the emirate’s unique landscapes to attract more visitors.”
The race brought together 203 athletes who navigated challenging routes featuring steep inclines and natural mountain terrain. Thus, it offered a thorough test of physical and mental endurance amid Masfout’s distinctive landscape.
The event was backed by a broad network of partners, including the Emirates Council for Balanced Development as the strategic partner, Etihad Water and Electricity as the official sponsor, and Endurance Sports Services as the organiser. Additional support came from Ajman Police, Ajman Municipality, Italian Choice, Forsan Zayed Volunteer Team, Infinity Gym, Majid Studio, Pocari Sweat, Healthy Cola, Endurance Bicycles, Gulfa as the official hydration sponsor, and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Ajman as the medical sponsor.
Coinciding with the 54th Union Day, the ‘Masfout X’ Race underscores Ajman’s continued commitment to incorporating community-driven and sporting initiatives into national celebrations, highlighting the role of sports in promoting social cohesion and nurturing a collective sense of unity.
