Timeless is an exhibition of recent works by celebrated Lebanese artist Mahmoud Amhaz (b. 1935, Baalbek).
Across a lifetime, Amhaz has approached painting as a space of reflection—where line, light, and silence meet. Though deeply rooted in abstraction, his work remains closely attuned to reality, allowing lived experience, memory, and human presence to surface through form.
At 91 years young, Mahmoud Amhaz demonstrates an extraordinary creative vitality: over the course of less than a year, he took his brush and painted an entire new body of work for Timeless. This remarkable accomplishment stands as a testament to a lifelong commitment to artistic exploration and renewal. The exhibition presents these newly created paintings alongside master works from previous years, offering a rare dialogue across time within the artist’s own practice.
The opening will take place on February 3rd, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
The exhibition runs until February 10th, 2026, open daily from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, except Sundays. Timeless will be held at Rebirth Beirut Cultural Space, Gemmayze, Gouraud Street, Wakf el Roum Building, 1st Floor.
Timeless presents a new series of paintings created today, carrying forward a vision shaped over decades. Geometry and calligraphic traces coexist with fading faces and elusive figures, appearing and dissolving within the painted surface. Anchored in the present, these works explore a sense of continuity where time unfolds rather than concludes.
Mahmoud Amhaz’s practice is deeply informed by his dual background in archaeology and art history, blending rigorous scholarly inquiry with intuitive artistry. His compositions, structured around geometric systems, are enlivened by Arabic calligraphy transformed into visual rhythm and spatial expression. Subtle allusions to landscape, architecture, and human presence emerge not as representation but as structural memory, situating his abstraction within an ongoing dialogue between heritage and modernity.

The exhibition is presented by Organiss Management, with the support of Dr. Tony Karam, and hosted at Rebirth Beirut. Proceeds from Timeless will directly support Rebirth Beirut’s ongoing initiatives, including cultural programs, community development, and educational projects that enrich the city’s artistic and social fabric.
