The CMA CGM Foundation has decided to mobilize a $1 million emergency fund to provide immediate support in response to the disaster affecting the city of Tripoli.
A meeting took place between the President of the CMA CGM Foundation, Tanya Saadé Zeenny, and the Minister of Social Affairs, Haneen Sayed, aiming to establishing this emergency fund. The deployment of the allocated amount will be agreed upon in coordination with the Ministry of Social Affairs to address the urgent humanitarian needs of the city of Tripoli and its population. The discussions also covered potential avenues for future cooperation as well as the CMA CGM Foundation’s activities in Lebanon.
The Minister of Social Affairs, Haneen Sayed, stated: ” We thank the CMA CGM Foundation for its rapid response and generous support following the tragic events in Tripoli. This emergency fund reflects genuine solidarity with the people of Tripoli at a time when they need it most. At the Ministry of Social Affairs, we remain fully committed to standing by affected families and coordinating closely with our partners to ensure that assistance reaches those most in need swiftly and transparently. In moments of crisis, partnerships and shared responsibility, such as this collaboration with CMA CGM, are essential to protecting our communities and restoring hope.”
Tanya Saadé Zeenny, President of the CMA CGM Foundation, said: “The fund established by the CMA CGM Foundation will help support families affected by the urgent humanitarian situation in Tripoli. This emergency operation is part of the CMA CGM Foundation’s global efforts to respond to humanitarian crises and natural disasters.
