Google is introducing new, easy-to-use switching tools for all consumer accounts — allowing you to easily bring memories, context and chat history from other AI apps directly into Gemini.
Starting to roll out today across the Arab world, the new memory import feature can easily bring an understanding of people’s key preferences, relationships, and personal context directly into Gemini. Once the user imports these memories, Gemini will understand the same key facts they have shared with other apps, including interests. Instead of starting over from scratch, users can now quickly get Gemini up to speed on what matters most to them. To bring the memory from other AI apps to Gemini, just head to Settings and select the new import option. Users will get a suggested prompt to copy and paste into the current AI app. Once the other app generates a summary of the preferences, simply copy that response and paste it back into Gemini. Gemini will instantly analyze the information and securely save those details to Gemini context, ready to be used in the next chat. Personal Intelligence in Gemini delivers a new level of helpfulness by including relevant insights from Gmail, Photos, Search history and past Gemini chats in its responses – when users have granted access to those apps. That’s why in addition to memory import, users can now import their full chat history, too.
Users can simply upload a ZIP file of their chat history from other AI providers and seamlessly pick up right where they left off. They can search their past conversation threads and continue building on them right inside Gemini.
The feature is now available on the Web, across the Arab world, and will soon roll-out on mobile devices in the next few days.
