LAST CHANCE TO JOIN OLYMPIC LEGEND SIR MO FARAH AT THIS WEEKEND’S RUN YAS AT ICONIC YAS MARINA CIRCUIT

The local community is being invited to join four-time Olympic champion, Sir Mo Farah, in this Sunday’s Run Yas 2026 at Yas Marina Circuit with registration still open.

Held in partnership with Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) and organised by Ethara, the event aims to inspire people to “Be a Champion” and encourage them to get active by joining their friends and family on the iconic F1 track.

People of all ages and abilities, from beginners to experienced runners, can take part with different distances available. Sir Mo Farah will be among the participants to hit the course in the Yas Lap (one full lap at 5.3k) and people can still join and run alongside him.

Additionally, there are other categories that people can enter whether you want to participate individually or as a team. They include the Yas 10K, the Year of Family Relay (where corporates and family can participate as a team of three), and Yas Kids (which is made of 1K and 2K distances).

The organisers have also revealed that cash prizes will be awarded to the top five finishers in the Yas 10K event with the winner set to receive AED 10,000. The runner-up will get AED 5,000 with the third-placed finisher being awarded AED 2,500. The fourth and fifth-placed will get AED 1,000 each.

In line with the UAE’s Year of Family, Run Yas is a celebration of strengthening families and bringing local communities together in an event that aims to promote a healthy lifestyle for residents and visitors.

Dr. Rashed Al Suwaidi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, said:
“Run Yas reflects our ongoing commitment to embedding physical activity into everyday life across the community. Through strong partnerships with national stakeholders, we are creating supportive and accessible environments that encourage individuals and families to stay active, helping prevent chronic disease and strengthen health and wellbeing over the long term. This initiative also aligns with the Year of the Family, reinforcing social connection through inclusive and community-driven health initiatives.”

Saif Rashid Al Noaimi, Chief Executive Officer of Ethara, said: “Ethara has a well-established track record in transforming Yas Marina Circuit from a world-class motorsport venue into a key community asset with Run Yas being the latest example. By bringing families and local communities together through physical exercise at Run Yas, we are playing our part in supporting the government’s on-going efforts to promoting a healthy lifestyle for residents and visitors.”

The presence of Sir Mo Farah, the race ambassador, and Emirati sprinter, Maryam Al Farsi, who represented the UAE in her first Olympics in Paris 2024, will elevate the event experience further from an electric start-line atmosphere to the sense of achievement of crossing the finish line, creating unforgettable moments for all participants.

Farah said: “I’m really excited to be coming to Abu Dhabi for Run Yas. It’s amazing to have this event at the Formula One circuit. With it being a New Year, it’s a good way to start getting active and having fun together as a community. I encourage as many people as possible to join me in what will be a great day out at Run Yas.”
