The Dubai Centre for Family Businesses, which operates under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, recently concluded the third cohort of its Next-Gen Family Businesses Training Programme. The programme is designed to prepare the next generation of family business leaders to drive future growth by equipping them with practical knowledge and skills in leadership, governance, and business management, supporting the long-term sustainability of family enterprises.

The third cohort brought together 22 next-generation members of family businesses. The programme featured an innovative and practical training approach, incorporating interactive group discussions, role-play sessions, practical assessments, and case studies based on real-world experiences. This hands-on format encouraged meaningful peer learning and enabled participants to apply key concepts when addressing challenges and capitalising on opportunities facing family businesses.

The comprehensive curriculum covered key areas essential to sustainable success, including the fundamentals of family business governance, effective board membership, entrepreneurship and strategic decision-making, as well as effective communication and conflict resolution. Expert-led sessions, real-world scenarios, and practical tools enabled participants to apply the knowledge and skills they gained to their professional responsibilities.

By the conclusion of the programme, participants had developed a range of practical capabilities to help them balance the interests of the family, the business, and ownership. The programme also strengthened their understanding of governance principles, the role of boards in supporting growth, and the implementation of fair and effective frameworks for leadership, recruitment, and accountability.

The programme introduced participants to global best practices relevant to the needs of the region’s business sectors and contributed to strengthening their personal leadership capabilities and professional vision. This will help them address business challenges more effectively and contribute to the sustainable success of their family businesses.

The Next-Gen Family Businesses Training Programme helps participants develop their skills and strengthen their practical and management capabilities, enabling them to lead their family businesses and support their continued success. The programme also equips participants with the knowledge needed to explore business challenges and the practical leadership skills required to take their family businesses forward while keeping pace with global developments.

The Dubai Centre for Family Businesses was launched in May 2023 under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers to promote the sustainability and growth of family businesses in the emirate. The centre is dedicated to advancing the development of this vital sector and enhancing its economic contribution to Dubai’s future development plans.
