The global rollout allows listeners to move their existing playlists directly into their accounts without relying on third-party tools. Moreover, mobile users are expected to see the option appear in their libraries over the next few days, making migration far more seamless.
The company explained that the integration streamlines playlist transfers from other streaming platforms, eliminating the need to rebuild collections from scratch. Additionally, the feature functions through TuneMyMusic, which already supports imports from major services such as Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezer, SoundCloud, Qobuz, Napster and Pandora. Although a full list has not been officially released, the underlying technology enables broad compatibility.
How the New Transfer Tool Works
To start a transfer, users can open the app on their phones, navigate to ‘Your Library’, scroll to the bottom and select ‘Import your music’. After that, the app prompts them to connect with TuneMyMusic, choose the platform to import from and begin the transfer. Furthermore, the rollout marks one of Spotify’s most notable efforts to attract new subscribers by reducing friction for those leaving other services.
According to the company, listeners can use all creative tools once their playlists have been imported. This means they can create custom cover art, collaborate with friends or turn their playlists into shared collections. Additionally, features such as Smart Filters and playlist transition mixing will remain functional wherever supported, even for playlists brought over from outside the app.
