Emaar has launched the 2026 edition of its Burj Khalifa Projection Design Open Call, inviting artists, designers and digital creatives from around the world to submit original audiovisual works for display on the façade of the world’s tallest building in Dubai.
The international competition opened on 8 July 2026 and will accept submissions until 18 August 2026 at 11:59 pm. Selected work will be projected onto the iconic Burj Khalifa, offering creatives the opportunity to present large-scale projection mapping on one of the world’s most recognised architectural landmarks.
According to Emaar, entrants are encouraged to “submit a stunning audio-visual projection” that celebrates innovation, artistic expression and the spirit of Dubai through immersive digital storytelling.
Global competition expands participation in 2026
Unlike the previous edition, which was limited to UAE residents, this year’s open call welcomes submissions from artists worldwide. Additionally, the submission period has been extended to nearly 6 weeks, giving participants more time to develop their concepts.
The 2025 competition attracted significant interest and originally offered a grand prize of AED 100,000, along with the opportunity to showcase the winning design on the Burj Khalifa. Although Emaar extended last year’s deadline due to strong participation, the 2026 competition does not list a cash award. Instead, the published details identify the façade projection itself as the principal recognition for the selected artist or design team.
Submission requirements emphasise originality
Participants must submit a three-minute audiovisual projection consisting of an MP4 preview with integrated music, a high-resolution MOV file for projection and a separate audio file. Every submission must also include a concept statement of up to 300 words outlining the creative narrative behind the work.
Emaar requires all visual content and music to be original and free from copyright restrictions. Furthermore, proposals must comply with UAE cultural values and demonstrate strong creative, visual and technical quality.
Designs generated using artificial intelligence tools are not eligible and will be disqualified under the competition’s published rules.

Judging will evaluate submissions based on creativity, originality, visual impact and technical feasibility.
