The exhibition “Behind the Canvas” by visual artist Rawia Ghandour Zantout officially opened today at the Park Palace Building, Downtown Beirut, marking a successful launch with a strong media presence and an engaged audience of art lovers, collectors, and figures from Lebanon’s contemporary art scene.
The opening stood out as a distinctive cultural moment, with visitors engaging closely with Rawia’s latest body of work—paintings built on layered textures, emotional depth, and a sophisticated dialogue between color and light. Known for their rich materiality, Rawia’s works reveal the hidden layers and intimate narratives that shape each piece long before its final form appears on the surface.
Guests moved through the exhibition in a vibrant, conversational atmosphere, expressing clear admiration for the artist’s distinctive visual language and the emotional architecture embedded in each canvas. The works invite viewers to look beyond the visible—to uncover the memories, sensations, and quiet moments woven into every layer.
“Behind the Canvas” offers a first look at Rawia’s newest series, encouraging art lovers, collectors, designers, and media to explore the unseen stories that live beneath the surface of each artwork.
The exhibition runs from December 18 to December 24, open daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, remaining accessible to the public throughout the week as a space for reflection, discovery, and artistic dialogue.
